Imran Ahmed
About Me

I am an architect by training, researcher by conviction. With an M.S. in Architecture and Urban Design from UCLA and a B.Arch from AIUB (Bangladesh), I bring over six years of professional experience leading residential, commercial, and interior projects in Dhaka — from conceptual design and 3D modeling to site supervision. My UCLA studio project "Sea Ranch, Beyond Preservation — A Cycles of Regeneration" received the RESILIENCE Merit Level Scholarship in the 2×8 competition by AIA-LA and ACLA. Through research-driven practice, I develop community-centered housing, landscape strategies, and urban frameworks that integrate ecological, social, and policy dynamics. A registered Architect in Bangladesh, I am proficient in Rhino, AutoCAD, SketchUp, D5 Render, Adobe Suite, and AI tools such as ComfyUI and Midjourney. In parallel, I pursue filmmaking, producing Oscar-qualifying and award-winning work screened at major festivals, weaving narrative inquiry into my spatial practice.

Education
Completion: 2025
M.S. Architecture & Urban Design University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA)
The M.S. in Architecture and Urban Design at UCLA is a post-professional program focused on design research addressing urban challenges through digital-physical technologies. Studios explored climate crisis, mobility, mixed realities, and spatial narratives, producing models, installations, films, and robotic fabrications. My Sea Ranch "Beyond Preservation" project, featured on UCLA AUD's site and recognized by ACLA 2×8, reimagines fire-vulnerable landscapes as regenerative nurseries with modular housing embedded in native ecologies.
Completion: 2018
Bachelor of Architecture American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB)
IAB-accredited five-year architecture program focused on progressive studios tackling abstract and realistic problems, integrating theory, research, and technology for global practice. Final Thesis: "Hierarchy or Equity? Rethinking Settlement for the Harijans" — a retrofitting strategy preserving the socio-cultural fabric of an outcast Bangladeshi community — longlisted in top 50 of Tamayouz International Graduation Projects Award 2018.
